About Us

A bilingual news outlet in Spanish and English: what happens in Mexico and the United States, and above all what happens between them.

Our mission

We publish journalism that is useful, verifiable and written in the language of the reader. We explain the decisions that change daily life —work, money, energy, culture, technology— with enough context for readers to decide for themselves. Our audience is the Latino community on both sides of the border.

Alzavoz is an independent publication of Scientika A.C., based in Mexico City. We depend on no party, government or interest group, and every figure we publish carries its source.

How we work

  • Verification: the numbers we publish come from an identifiable source. If the source fails, the figure is not published: we prefer a gap to an invented number.
  • Two languages: we publish in Spanish and translate into English the stories that cross the border. Neither version is a summary of the other.
  • Transparency: blocks produced by a model —such as the daily brief— are labelled as such and go through editorial review before publication.
  • Corrections: when we get it wrong, we correct it and say so.
