Stable Output Over Five Quarters

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has logged five consecutive quarters of stable crude production, according to CEO Juan Carlos Carpio Fragoso. Between February 2025 and April 2026, liquid hydrocarbon output climbed from 1.621 million barrels per day to 1.652 million barrels per day, a 2 percent increase.

Strategic Fields Sustain Performance

The gains rest on output from key fields including Maloob, Ixachi, Zaap, Ayatsil, and Quesqui, per El Financiero. Crude proper held steady at 1.365 million barrels daily, while condensates jumped from 254,000 to 287,000 barrels daily, representing a 13.1 percent jump.

Executives stressed that exploration will be central to the strategy through year-end. Pemex aims to stabilize production around 1.8 million barrels per day in 2026, according to Onexpo. The National Refining System finished 2025 processing 1.5 million barrels daily, with efficiency exceeding 60 percent.

Investment Push Ahead

Pemex will deploy 425 billion pesos in 2026 investment, focused mainly on exploration, production, and modernizing the Tula and Salina Cruz refineries. The next official quarterly report drops in August and will serve as a benchmark for the remainder of the year.
